Product Description
This brooch was made 10 years ago. As you can see from the images, the resin and photographs that have been set into the sterling silver frame are still looking as bright and untarnished as the day I made it. Hover your mouse over the image to see more detail.
This piece is a one-off.
This brooch features two layered images. One has a bright sky and cherry tree blossoms and the other features the landscape of Little Cumbrae on the Clyde with the sun setting amongst the clouds behind. As you can see in the photos this layering of images gives the brooch a 3D effect. Unlike my degree show brooches, there is no text in this brooch. The interpretation is completely up to the wearer and viewer.
This brooch measures 6.5 cm by 3 cm and is about 7 mm deep from the top of the resin to the back of the brooch. The brooch fastening is a steel pin with a silver tube hinge and silver revolver catch. The pin is around 5.5 cm long so this would be perfectly suited to a medium weight scarf or a slightly wider jacket lapel. The sterling silver frame was handmade so is not a perfect rectangle, it has a textured finish with the hallmark on the bottom right of the back.
