Winter gift guide - Landscape inspired gifts

A gift guide that aligns with the values of Jen Cunningham - Landscape Inspired Jewellery. A focus on slow, sustainable craft, as well as an appreciation for the wild landscapes and seasons of the beautiful island we live on.

I am so delighted to be sharing this gift guide with you. I’ve been thinking about making a gift guide since 2020, but by the time I thought about putting it together this year, I was busy with online and in person markets. Then I worried that I was too late in the year to be releasing something like this, especially when a lot of creatives have closed their orders for commission products in early November. Plus I was more than a little scared of asking artists whose work I admired if I could share their beautiful pieces. “What if they say no?!”

Well . . . they didn’t!

If you’ve followed me for a while then you’ll know that out of these seemingly scary moments often the best opportunities come and I’m so thrilled to bring you this curated selection of work from artists and makers across the country.

Each artist’s work expresses the connection between themselves and the landscapes around them. Some invite you to sit and slowly craft yourself, allowing space to reduce anxiety and relax into a meditative moment. Others use colour and movement of line, to impress their own feelings of being amongst and with the landscapes on paper and canvas, which you can then contemplate and interpret yourself.

It’s important to me to promote people whose work is deliberate, handcrafted and explores the feeling of being in the wilds of nature. With a few different price points you’re sure to find something perfect for the people in your life who love landscapes.

A downloadable copy of the gift guide is available here.

Perhaps you’re keen to buy something for yourself for getting through 2021, or are looking for something special as a gift. I’ve carefully selected artists whose work I think you’ll absolutely love so I encourage you to take a deep dive and find out more about each of them. Follow them on social media and/or join their mailing lists to be kept up to date with their creative journeys and exploration of landscapes. A few of the artists will work to commission, as you know I do and others hand make pieces to order. Every piece in this gift guide has been selected and they’re currently available to purchase.

FEATHER & HAY TEXTILES - ESKE ESK GIANT SCARF

FEATHER & HAY TEXTILES - ESKE ESK GIANT SCARF - £155

The Giant Scarves have been hand woven for those that love wild landscapes. The designs are inspired by Scotland’s Highlands, in particular the eastern side where the Angus Glens skirt the Cairngorm National Park. It is a place of mountains, granite plateaus, heather-clad moors, rivers and lochs.

Each scarf has unique hand blended and spun inlays that thread the wild details into traditional hand woven patterns.

Eske Esk means – spitting rain that precedes a heavy storm in Glen Esk.

JEN CUNNINGHAM - LANDSCAPE INSPIRED JEWELLERY - ARRAN BANGLE - £402

The Arran landscape bangle has a special place in my heart. Arran was the view I had growing up as a child. Each bangle is individually handmade by me from 100% recycled sterling silver, the Isle of Arran bangle is a great memento of time spent on this beautiful island on the Clyde.
